Brian Cribbs - GSA Director / Buffalo Girls Technical Director

Brian played for the Olympic Development Program (ODP) State Team and the Empire State Games Western Region. In college played for nationally ranked UB (division 2) and Fredonia (division 3).  He has served as an ODP district coach, local select clubs including Buffalo Soccer Club and Buffalo Premier Futbol Club and as an Assistant coach at Canisius and Niagara colleges.

Brian currently holds his NSCAA National, Advanced National Diploma, and Premier Diplomas, and a NSCAA State and Regional Goalkeeping Diploma.He graduated From the University at Buffalo with a bachelor’s in Legal Studies.

Jason Collinsworth U12 GSA Head Coach

Collinsworth was the WNY Flash second assistant coach in 2015.  Collinsworth has 10 years of coaching experience in many different levels of soccer. He has worked as a coach for the high school level for Birmingham HS, Farmington Hills HS, Detroit Country Day HS, and Lake Orion HS. He also was a Goalkeeper coach at the college level for the University of Detroit women’s soccer team.
At the club level, He has helped coach Vadar, Lobos, Lake Orion Soccer Club, and Oakland F.C. 

Collinsworth holds a USSF “C” License, NSCAA Premier Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma, and Coerver Youth Diploma. He is also a part of the Olympic Developmental Program for the State of Michigan.  

Dan Dolan - GSA Staff Coach

An active coach in the community, Dan has been with the club since 2004.  He is entering his fifth year with NY West Olympic Development Program and runs his own soccer business, Top Level Soccer - which provides individual and small group training to WNY’s best players.  Currently entering his sixth year as the head women’s coach at Daemen College, he has already broken the Lady Wildcats single-season win total and won their first regular season conference championship in 2011.  Prior, he was the Niagara University women’s assistant coach and the head coach of the boy’s varsity soccer team at Cardinal O’Hara.  

Dan holds his USSF National C License, USSF National Youth License, NSCAA National and Advanced National Diplomas, and his FA Psychology for Soccer Level 1 Certificate.

Tom Garigen - Empire Buffalo Director of Coaching

Tom is a life long WNY soccer resident.  After his youth career, which included time with Northtowns Soccer, Germania, and Gaymar, he attend and played at the University at Buffalo and Canisius College.  While at Canisius he earned 1st team all-conference honors as a senior and was named to the 1st team all-tournament team despite the team's overtime loss in the semi-finals.  After college he decided to dedicate himself to the coaching side of the game.  At the age of 19 he was already working with club teams like the BSC Dynamo and Germania.  Soon he was involved with Olympic Development Program at the State and Regional levels and assisted the women's soccer program at the University at Buffalo. Putting his business and educational psychology degrees to use he began working on the administrative side of the game, until eventually he found himself as the Director of Coaching for Empire Buffalo. Later he also founded the Buffalo Soccer Club, which is a program that serves children in the city of Buffalo.  

Tom has his USSF "B" and his USSF National Youth License.  In addition to his Director of Coaching duties, he has spent time working for New York State West running coach education and licensing classes.  In 2008 he began coaching and overseeing Empire's Development Academy teams.  In 2010 he earned Eastern Conference Coach of the Year Honors.

Rob Jackman - Girls State Academy Advisor

With the club since 2006, Rob Jackman is also a NY West ODP head coach and the men’s and women's assistant coach at Daemen College. He likes to emphasize technique, decision making, and fun in his training sessions and firmly believes that every youth player should strive to play the ball under pressure with confidence and composure. Rob has received his National "B" and National "Y" licenses through USSF as well as a State Goalkeeping Certificate from New York West.

Liz Masterson - GSA Staff Coach

The 2012 Liberty League Coach of the Year has led RIT to a 40-25-10 (.600) overall mark in four seasons, qualifying for the Empire 8 Tournament in 2010, and the Liberty League Tournament in 2011, 2012 and 2013. RIT advanced to its first Liberty League Championship game in 2013, before falling to eventual National Champion, William Smith.

Masterson is a 2005 graduate of St. Lawrence University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in government. She was a four-year starter of the varsity soccer team, serving as captain in 2004. Masterson earned NSCAA first team All-American honors in 2003. She was a three-time All-Region performer (2001, 2003 and 2004); and a four-time first team All-Liberty League performer from 2001-04. She scored 20 goals and added 15 assists for 55 points at St. Lawrence.

In June 2011, Masterson graduated the NCAA Women Coaches Academy. She has her advanced diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and has her U.S. Soccer Federation “B” License.

A native of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Masterson now resides in Rochester with her husband, Evan Schutt, and their daughter Harper.

Peter Olsen U13 GSA Head Coach

Peter holds his National USSF B license. In addition to his playing experience, he has been coaching soccer for many years, including with Amherst and EUSA. He also served on the coaching staff of the ODP program for many years.

Kelly Starchok U14 GSA Head Coach

Kelly Starchok is in her fourth season as the head women’s soccer at Hilbert College in Hamburg, NY. Kelly has many years of collegiate playing and coaching experience. As a player, Starchok competed at the Division I collegiate level at University at Buffalo. Currently, she is an active player in various women and co-ed soccer leagues in the Buffalo area.

Her collegiate coaching career began in 1998, as an assistant coach at Niagara County Community College. In 2001, Starchok assisted the Division I Canisius College women’s soccer team, and from 2008 - 2010 Starchok was the head coach at Genesee College in Batavia, NY.

During her four years at Genesee Community College (GCC), she led the Cougars in the 2009 fall season to the final four of the national tournament. This was the college's first ever appearance and the squad was honored with the NJCAA Division III National Tournament Sportsmanship Award.  The 2010 season brought more accolades to the team and to Coach Starchok as they placed second in the nation and two of coach Starchok’s players got national recognition as well.

Personally, Starchok was named the NSCAA/Mondo Junior College National Northeast Coach of the Year (2010), the NJCAA Region III Coach of the Year (2009, 2010), District A Coach of the Year (2009) and the New York State ODP Coach of the Year (2008).

For over 15 years, Starchok has been involved in coaching premier soccer in WNY.  She also currently assists with the Olympic Development Program, based out of Western New York.

Coach Starchok holds her USSF national “C” license and is the recipient of the Bob McNulty Award.  Starchok holds a BA in Early Childhood Development from the UB and a Master of Science in Education from Canisius College

Selim Talbi U15 GSA Head Coach

Talbi has collegiate and professional coaching experience.  In France, Talbi spent time as the men’s head soccer coach at the University of Pau.   He held the head coaching position for the Premier Level U16 men’s team at Aviron Bayonnais FC.  Talbi was the head coach for the Division II women’s national team in Blanc Mesnil.

At the professional level, Talbi served as the strength and conditioning coach for the men’s team at the Aviron Bayonnais Soccer Club at the third tier league level.

In the US, Talbi recently served as the Second Assistant Soccer Coach for the Men’s Soccer Program at Niagara University.

Talbi owns a National “B” License through the USSF and the UEFA “B” Coaching License through the French Soccer Federation. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist via the NSCA.  He also holds a European Strength and Conditioning Diploma via the University of Lyon. 

Talbi received a degree in the Science and Technique of Physical Education and Sports from the French National Institute of Sport.   Through the same department he completed his Masters of Research and Training at the University of Bordeaux.
